One day. One photograph.

A growing record of ordinary days, small discoveries, and whatever Fergus decides is important.

Tibetan Terriers

Tibetan Terriers are shaggy, sturdy dogs with bright minds, affectionate hearts, and an independent streak that suggests they may have a better idea than you do. Originally bred as companions in Tibet, they aren’t actually terriers despite their name. Their long double coats and broad, flat feet helped them navigate a cold, mountainous homeland, but they’re equally happy joining a family adventure or keeping close to their favorite people. Playful, sensitive, and full of personality, they tend to become deeply involved in household life—whether or not their assistance was requested.

This is where we’ll keep the evidence: the adventures, the questionable decisions, the good photographs and the stories that improve slightly with each telling.

For now, it begins as all good dog stories do—with anticipation, an unreasonable number of supplies, and no real idea what we’re getting ourselves into.

Roy’s Rebuttal

The established talent has the floor. Dispatches from life with a very small roommate.

A brief statement on personal space

“I said we could share the couch. I did not say we could share my entire personal space.”

For the record, I was here first. The couch, the toy, the patch of sunshine—all operating perfectly well before the arrival of the small, enthusiastic tenant. He appears to believe that being near me is good, being under me is better, and whatever I’m holding is a joint venture.

I have raised these concerns with management. Management took a photograph.

Still, he has potential. His taste in company is excellent.

The original Tibetan Terrier

Mojo

Eleven wonderful years, a whole lot of attitude, and the reason we wanted to share our lives with another Tibetan Terrier. Mojo cared deeply about the things he chose to care about. The rest? Not his problem.
